About Me

Theresa is certified Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in the treatment of Children & Adolescents within the family system. She maintains a private practice in Winnetka, Illinois. Located just a few blocks from New Trier High School.

She has over 15 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist, and a graduate of both Northwestern University and The University of Chicago with extensive training from Northwestern Stone Institute of Psychiatry and The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Chicago Hospital. 


Among her areas of expertise are Marriage Therapy, Family Therapy, Addiction, Adoption, Infertility Issues, Sensory Integration Issues with Children/Parenting Challenges, Blended Family Challenges, Divorce Custody Mediation and Co-parenting Issues. 
In addition to being a prominent Child & Family therapist, Theresa is an adoptive parent of two and author of a children's book, Forever Family: The Adoption Story.

Theresa is a Strength Resiliency Family Systems therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support (Strength Resilency Identification) and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal lifestage challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. These techniques include Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy, SandTray, CBT, DBT and psychodynamic modalities.   With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Theresa takes pride in her ability to address the issues of her adolescent clientele and assist parents to stay present in their roles throughout this developmental stage.  "I assist parents and adolescents learn to respect the challenges each face through creating a safe environment for honest expression, mutual respect and responsibility for each members part in the behaviors/symptoms which challenge the structure of the system."
